I have a lot of really exciting things going on lately and I just want to share them and maybe light a little spark in all of you.
1. Window display installation at CAMP in downtown Omaha. My lovely friend Megan Hunt is graciously throwing an event for an open house/networking party for CAMP and for my new window display business. My goal with this event is to meet as many local business owners who might have a need for window display/merchandising help in their store. I have been preparing for this event for a few weeks now and I’m very excited to show off my designs to that many people. With that said, if you know any local business owners in Omaha, send them down to CAMP Omaha this Friday from 6-10PM. While you are in the building, swing by Birdhouse Collectible to see the art opening for Andrew Hershey!
2. I am signing up for my LAST semester of college today at 2:30. I couldn’t be more excited. With that level of excitement comes a equal level of fear. Graduating is scary, yes, but I honestly feel like I have prepared myself very well and I have almost all the tools I need to be “successful” after next December.
3. I am currently interning at Shadow Lake Towncenter in Papillion in the marketing department and I am loving it. I didn’t ever think I would enjoy a desk job where I was answering phones and staring at a computer all day, but it’s not like that at all. I get to go out on the property, meet the employees of a lot of the stores, bounce ideas with my supervisor, and work in an office full of fun people. I bought a whole new cute work wardrobe too, so that’s super fun too. Along with all those things, I get to be creative too! (thank God.) I am currently in charge of updating the website several times per week. I update the promotions, calendar, featured tenants, job openings. My supervisor said she has never put an intern in charge of such a big project, so I am completely flattered to be helping her with this :)
4. Our textiles club here at UNL (Montage) is doing a clothing swap next week that is university wide. That is, you bring in all the clothes you don’t want/wear anymore and you get a ticket for each item of clothing. The next day you come in, we will have all the clothes separated into categories by gender/color/size etc. and for every ticket you have, you get to choose a clothing item. If you go to UNL, bring your gently used clothing to Regency A in the union from 10am-2pm on Wednesday April 6th! The remaining clothes that don’t get chosen will go to Lincoln’s People City Mission.
5. 5 more weeks of school! what’s not to love about this?
I hope all of you have exciting things going on in your lives. Have a great week :)
Rachel
